Psoriasis concerned about internal impact

Is there anyone else who has psoriasis or PSA who is concerned about all the impact it's meant to have internally?

I keep reading things about the high chances of other conditions and it's starting to worry me.

I have had psoriasis since teens and PSA for around ten years. Not on any drugs at present. My skin is awful but I'm not too bothered about that as used to it. It's the internal things I'm becoming concerned about. Nails affected too.

Anyone else?

My mom has had psoriasis for as long as I remember. She developed Cushing Syndrome in her 50-s due to steroid treatments. She switched to antidepressants and topical non steroid creams and UV therapy. The thing that has been affected most is her self esteem, she's always been worried about her appearance and the stress led to ulcer, heart issues and depression.

Hi, sorry I didn't mean to cause alarm In anyone, there have been a number of studies to show that the Inflammation behind the skin changes can also cause inflammation throughout the body. It's called psoriasis Co morbidities.

Thanks

I have had psoriasis since I was 16 years old. About 4 years after the onset I developed Psoriatic Arthritis, which is of course an inflammatory disease. It has developed over the years and now affects my right shoulder, both ankles, one wrist and several fingers. It has led to me having a total knee replacement as well. I am 62 now.

I haven't heard of any other diseases linked to Psoriatic Arthritis though.

I think Philip Schofield said on TM the other day that it worked for his friend.

Yes I am aware of the co morbidities too. I have had psoriasis for nearly 40 years. I was concerned when I first read about it, I feel powerless as to how to change it so I decided to just see what happens. What else can we do. My main concern was schizophrenia and more severe mental illness, particularly as I have had anxiety and depression too, but again I will just have to see how it goes. As I have got older I am also less concerned about how my skin looks. So that is one very welcome benefit.
