Positive Anti ENA

So today I had blood test results back which show a negative anti nuclear result but a positive anti ena result. Also high IgA levels and a weak positive anti parietal cells result in 2017. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Feeling so unwell. Suspected small fiber neuropathy which led to tests but also suffering from fatigue and muscle aches that come and go on top of autonomic symptoms like low blood pressure.

@Mumma02 how are you feeling?
I have also just received blood results back. It is quite confusing with all the different acronyms.
I hope this gives the thread a little bump for you.

Thank you. I'm feeling exactly the same with on/off strange awful symptoms. No follow up from anyone and these blood tests were done almost 2 months ago. I hope your blood tests gave you some answers.

2 months ago! That’s a long time 😟The waiting is awful and googling things just makes things worse.

I have had positive HEp-2 cell autoantibody test and potentially abnormal HEp-2 nuclear pattern homogeneous ANA… whatever that means.

What are your symptoms? I can offer a friendly ear 😊

So since having my second child who is now 3 and 3 months - I have never felt 100% well since. At the time of his birth I ended up anemic so a lot was put down to that. But over the years developed fatigue, air hunger, breathlessness, pins and needles in arms, hands, feet and legs, blurry vision, low blood pressure, feeling like I'm going to faint, nausea, headaches, muscle aches - especially in arms which can wake me up, limb weakness - more frequent in legs, tremors, temperature dysregulation, probable small fiber neuropathy, brain fog, dizziness, ectopic beats, light/sound sensitivity sometimes. Probably more! I used to be entirely healthy with nothing wrong. What are your symptoms? Have they actually diagnosed you with anything?

@Mumma02 That sounds really tough. Has your GP referred you on to a rheumatologist or are you still at theblood results stage?
I had blood taken 2 weeks ago and the results are just appearing on the nhs app in dribs and drabs so no diagnosis yet.
I also have quite a lot of things on your list.
My list

  • pain in leg, big toe, thumb
  • lump on thumb
  • fatigue
  • nausea
  • low body temp
  • cold body
  • weak
  • muscle pain
  • thirst, dry mouth
  • dizzy spells
  • migraine
  • depression
  • rash on neck
  • shortness of breath
  • lung problems

I hope we get some answers soon.
Here’s wishing you a quiet, restful Sunday 💐

Hi, I am going through something similar at the moment. Did any of you get answers?

Mumma02 · 21/09/2023 23:03

@florenceandthemac absolutely nothing. Do you have symptoms?

I'm seeing a functional doctor soon in London who can run more bloods

Have you been referred to a rheumatologist? With your collection of symptoms And the +ENA I would expect a referral to be honest.
I had a similar set of symptoms, all pretty mild and vague and following further testing have been diagnosed with systemic sclerosis.
a quick Google suggests homogenous pattern nuclear antibodies are found in people with illnesses like Lupus and Connective Tissue disease.
i have found a lot of useful info on the ‘health unlocked’ boards many very knowledgeable people on there if you wanted to share your results etc so far.
oh and whats been said about the parietal cells antibodies?
