Anti viral meds.

I have 2 auto immune conditions- they started after I was hurt in a nasty accident. I've been on steroids now for 2.5 years. I started at 60mg a day and now down to 3mg per day. I am 95% better but can't seem to get lower than 3mg.

I tested positive for covid on Wednesday and followed all the protocols for advising the NHS. I received an email back saying I sounded as if I was eligible for anti viral meds. If I heard nothing back in 24 hours I needed go call my doctor/medical provider or 111. I couldn't get through to any of the doctors, all their voice mails were full bar 1 and I left a message noting the date she mentioned was 15th September- so not confident of any result there.
I phoned 111 they took all my details and said someone would ring me. Couple of hours later someone did- she confirmed I sounded like I needed help.
She took my symptoms again and said a doctor would ring me. A few hours went by and they did I repeated everything again. He advised he would contact my doctor to check if the anti viral were compatible with the meds I am taking. I've heard nothing, the hospital isn't answering the phone, I've left another message no response so I call my Dr. To check if they have been contacted- they had notes to say I'm not eligible for the anti viral treatment because I'm on a low dose of steroids. No one bothered to advise me but I'm worrying- my Rheumatologist advised I would be immuno suppressed for 5 years last time I saw him..how does a low steroid dose make me ineligible?

I'm concerned if I get really ill, there's just a small window of time that you can take the AVs and I'm fast approaching it.
What should I do?

I presume you've got an answer now but I was in a similar position 2 weeks ago.
I have a weaked immune system. Last year I was very ill with covid, spent 8 days in hospital and it was quite honestly terrifying. At the time I had had 2 x AZ vaccines .
Since then I've had 3 more vaccines and was booked in for my booster last week but tested positive for covid. As instructed I logged the LFT on the governemnet website.
I had basic cold symptoms but nothing like the covid I had last time. Having said that the last time I didn't get seriously ill until day 10.
I got a call next day from a doctor at the hospital to discuss treatment. After some debate it was agreed that I would not have the treatment (it would have been an infusion). I wanted to see if five vaccines plus covid gave me any protection. He agreed it was the right thing to do and assured me that they could step in with other treatment later.
It was a gamble but I'm so glad I did it because I went on to have what was like a filthy cold but none of the scary covid symptoms I had first time. I was fully recovered by day 8.

This has been a recurring theme for immunosuppressed people in the UK.

They are supposed to get antivirals, but the system isn't joined up enough to organize it.

Antivirals to treat Covid are best given ASAP. If given too late, they're pretty pointless.

Hope you are feeling a bit better now OP.
