High Thyroglobulin auto antibodies

I had a blood test done last week to monitor my T4 levels as I was subclinical when I had my bloods done in April. I ask for an early review as I’ve been feeling knackered.

I was just looking at my results on the NHS app this evening and everything is in range apart from the thyroglobulin autoantibodies which is at over 300 (normal range 0-34). T4 level is 12.9 whereas in April it was 10.1.

does any one have any experience of this? I can’t call my gp until Tuesday and am getting worried. Even on Tuesday I may not be able to get hold of them as I’m meant to be in an all day work meeting from 8am.

Hi. I've had similar results to you. How did you get on?

The NHS usually measure TPOab for hypothyroidism, interesting they have measured Tgab? They aren’t interested in mine which is high.
Is your T4 low in range, most of us end up doing private test to monitor our Ft3 levels as that is the active hormone.

Raised TG and/or TPO antibodies suggest you have autoimmune thyroid disease, sorry OP.

When I was diagnosed I had both of those well over range (in the hundreds). So yes it is significant. However don't expect your doctor to know what to do about it!

Thanks crunchy carrot. Do you have Hashimotos? I am absolutely dreading this diagnosis down the line

Yes I do. In the end you just have to deal with it. Many people will recommend going gluten free, it can help. Didn't notice it did anything for me, but I have just gone GF again due to a flare up of gut problems, so it might be worth looking into it in case you need to do so.

Thank-you.
