Hi all, where to start really , posting on behalf of my h2b.

H2b has had psoriasis since his teens, mainly on his knees, shins. Has a flare up from time to time but managed.

In November he suffered with Plantar fasciitis resulting in him changing the way he walked , tried splints, tens machine, exercise etc.. by January it was still there but not as bad .. then his knee started to hurt then swelled up, resulting in him being put on naproxen and co-codamol, he was sent for a X-ray and referred to a physiotherapist, the X-ray showed mild arthritis but nothing significant. The physiotherapist suspected psoriatic arthritis and referred him for a ultra sound scan .. this showed small inflammation.. nothing identifying the cause of the swelling. Now a referral to rheumatology as urgent. This was in February the appointment has come for the end of April. He has had a mri privately so he can go to the rheumatology appoint armoured with X-ray, ultra sound scan and mri results , we don't know yet what they show, hopefully we will get them this week. Oh and bloods showed small amount of inflammation. He's now on tramadol and naproxen, wears a knee support and is in agony all the time. Good old google is taking us in every direction. He's convinced it's to do with the Az jab as all this has happened since having that. Nails - nails are mentioned lots , we have never really took much notice of his nails he often hits them with a hammer at work but I'll post a pic if it allows me to. He is seeing a osteopath who thinks it's more along the lines of a torn meniscus, he feels like he goes round and around in circles and has no clue what's going on , so I said I'd post on here to see if others have had similar.. thank you for reading

Deffo not the jab ! If he has psoriasis most people then go on to have psoriatic arthritis! Sounds like he may be out on dmards which will then slow down the progress of the joint damage I have psoriatic arthritis xx

Go to the website versus arthritis there’s an amazing amount of info and it’s been a big help to me x

Thank you @Hairobsessed123 I've just looked at that website that's really interesting, I'll show him this also. He has the mri results back , still absolutely non the wiser ' possible psoriatic arthritis' but also lots of other things going on so it could be a mix of other things , now it's a case of living with pain relief until this appointment comes ..

Can I ask you do you suffer with fatigue he seems to sleep all the time , when I say all the time any given opportunity, our life has changed rapidly over the past few months. Xx

Has he been tested for anemia? I think there is a link between psoriasis and anemia- which may explain his nails and the tiredness, to an extent.

@smine1 yes fatigue is a big part of it ! I find if I overdo it I’m really fatigued the day after a busy day and sometimes even after a good night sleep I’m still knackered x

There’s a lot of psoriasis in my family (including me) but not a lot of arthritis, certainly not at a younger age. It is an autoimmune condition though and treatment often seems to focus on symptoms.

I have psioriatic arthritis if it is, then my advice

If you need to use a walking stick / chair do, resisting only creates more pain

Try different drugs, if you are prescribed amitriptyline take 2 weeks off work and take it every day, it starts off with no side effects, after a few days makes you feel awful and then starts to get better.

In my personal case the arthritis was diagnosed along side an underactive thyroid, the thyroid problem had me sleeping all the time and also meant the pain killers were not as effective as they were not getting into my system - it's worth having a blood test for this.

The arthritis is tiring anyway but I don't sleep all the time now

Thank you all , he hasn't had full bloods done that I'm aware of just inflammation markers .. you cant get a GP appointment, it's a bloody nightmare. Just logged onto his hospital account thingy and it says it's been cancelled and to call blah blah guess what mail box full it's a bloody pain literally!
