Simply that...

What is the 16:8 method?

ProjectBaby87 · 17/10/2021 21:23

A type of fasting - 16 hours fasting, 8 hour eating window.

No

But I did a juice fast for five weeks 😱 and it disappeared by 90%

It as miraculous
I’m not exaggerating when I say I looked like a burns victim when it kicked off

12 years in its back. But not too seriously

ProjectBaby87 · 17/10/2021 21:41

Oh wow..I don't think I could manage that. It's so irritating isn't it. I've just seen some research and anecdotal posts where people have been able to reduce it significantly by not eating after dinner and delaying breakfast e.g eating 9.30am-5.30pm

OP posts:

I honestly think diet is critical

Go and look at “psoriasis buddy” on Facebook, it’s. a v supportive group that focuses on clearing through non processed foods

Also the pagano diet by John pagano

ProjectBaby87 · 18/10/2021 10:23

I've tried both before with little success 😞

Have you tried probiotics?

They also have helped me
Proper ones
Optibac extra off Amazon is what I get

ProjectBaby87 · 19/10/2021 15:28

I did a few years ago but didn't find any difference. Did you get clearance?

CrystalMaisie · 19/10/2021 15:32

I’ve met two people who cleared their psoriasis by giving up dairy.

romdowa · 19/10/2021 15:33

Weirdly mine cleared when I did a low histamine diet, I did it for other issues but my skin clearing was a happy side effect

MyDcAreMarvel · 19/10/2021 15:39

No, I know you didn’t ask but Humiria was like a wonder drug for me.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 19/10/2021 15:40

My SIL says that she did

WhatDidISayAlan · 19/10/2021 15:42

I've been doing the F800 diet and (I know it's not psoriasis) my ketosis piliaris has nearly completely cleared up. Even my boyfriend commented on how smooth my arms were the other day. I've cut out carbs and sugar (not sure how long for) and eat a decent amount of fat and protein.

Friend who has quite bad psoriasis has gone the route of an elimination diet - she's found caffeine and tomatoes set hers off.

ProjectBaby87 · 19/10/2021 15:43

Thanks everyone. Do you have a link for the low histamine diet?

16:8 combined with removing certain triggers (mine are nightshades, yeast and alcohol) plus daily large doses of vit d and using coconut oil cleared mine. Cutting out sugar has helped massively with my psioratic arthritis too.

I think unfortunately what works is different for everyone though. But I was willing to try anything by that point and was glad I found something that helped.

I still do 16:8 but am much less strict. I can eat nightshades and yeast now too. Also happily I can drink wine. I still don't have sugar though.

hamstersarse · 19/10/2021 15:50

I think people have success with IF for psoriasis because it should put you in ketosis (i.e reduce your insulin)

If you combine it with no sugar and very low carb you may well see very good results. There is definitely something insulin resistance about psoriasis

First one on google - there are many more.

Reduce your insulin through fasting or through low carb - it is worth a try!

HollowTalk · 19/10/2021 15:54

Sugar is the worst thing for mine. My nephew has a problem with binge drinking (beer) and when he stops drinking altogether his skin massively improves.

HollowTalk · 19/10/2021 15:54

And he too looks like a burns victim when it's bad.

derxa · 19/10/2021 16:02

I'll try anything

Did you have any cravings? How did you cope with them?

Very interesting 🤔

Oh yes, plenty of cravings! I didn't have to cut everything out totally for very long - maybe 2-3 months? I just treated it like a challenge and made sure I always had plenty of things on hand I could eat to stop me reaching for the things I couldn't. Upping your fat and protein intake massively helps with sugar cravings. As does getting plenty of sleep. And I think it's easier to go cold turkey and just cut it out rather than finding replacements. But that might just be me.

Roystonv · 19/10/2021 16:23

Have done 16:8 for years before it was a thing and it has never helped mine.

ProjectBaby87 · 19/10/2021 16:23

I think I'd be the same.....cut it out rather than down
