Potential hashimoto's hypothyroidism am I at astrazeneca risk

I'm currently consulting a doctor re potential hashimoto's hypothyroidism, various symptoms including pins and needles hands and feet dry skin hair no sex drive ache joints etc.

Had a raft of blood tests done last week not been told exactly what but know includes check for RA, thyroid antibodies, iron etc.

Rang the docs yesterday and got hurried receptionist response unfortunately par for course states all results are either normal or satisfactory. Was rushed off phone without chance to ask q.

I see fromdoing some digging that satisfactory doesn't necessarily mean normal but maybe just not bad enough to be concerning. I am going to request paper results and maybe get 2nd opinion.

However this morning due to our area being a bit ahead on vaccine I got the text to book in and am going for first jab tomorrow.

I'm 41 and just concerned about the supposed risk of blood clots etc with immune issues etc.

Does anyone any advice? Please feel free to tell me I'm worrying about nothing if you honestly think that.

I was told by my consultant that I was at a higher risk of severe or long covid because I have a huge antibody count, but the GPs and hospitals to operate as gateways for the vaccine disagreed. Eventually I did get it but because of another condition I have.

I have hashimotos and CTD. Had 1st astrazenca jab last month and 2nd will be in May. Was in middle of joint flare-up with 1st jab and did feel a bit rough the next day (headache and fluey) but gone by day after.

With regards to your blood tests: do ask for a copy of the results. TSH should be below 2 and FT4 closer to 20 (iirc). The thyroid section on Health Unlocked website is a great place to find more info on hypothyroidism and the members are v friendly and helpful.

Didn't notice the date on your OP. How did the jab go?

Cornishbelle · 21/04/2021 21:49

Thanks @whysorude, I have been told no further investigation needed by doc all results either normal or satisfactory. I have asked for a print of my results with reference ranges. He did tell me TSH is 3.1 and that it is within range (though have heard nhs range is rather wider than some believe is right)

My jab was great on the day, felt wiped out day after very fluey but ok from day 2 evening. Will have to wait for my print for more info I guess I will check out that website thank you

Good to hear about the jab. May I ask if you are on levothyroxine at all?

@GrumpyHoonMain that’s interesting. Haven’t had my antibodies checked for a couple of years (GP just does TSH and FT4, and when I get Medichecks it’s too expensive!) but my antibodies were sky high on diagnosis.

Was it an endo that told you that? I’m currently isolating after close contact and work made me feel stupidly over cautious and that I should just get on with it, really. Knowing I’m potentially at higher risk makes this isolating seem more worthwhile (and following the rules, but that’s another story...)
