Arthritis or not, clueless

After the birth of two of my kids I got a weird form of temporary joint swelling and weakness in my limbs, it was particularly bad in my elbows. A couple of years ago I had very painful finger joints for a few months, they swelled and felt stiff and although the stiffness and pain eventually went, the joints have stayed bigger than they were before.

I finally went to the doctor with pain in my right hip which has been there for 2ish years and recently had an MRI. Physio said she thinks I may have a weird shaped hip joint but I will get the results back in a few weeks.

More recently, for the last couple of months, both my hips are sore and if I don't move for a while or hold a position for a minute, I have to go gently on them.

The heel on my left foot and the ankle on my right foot hurt when I walk but I haven't injured them. Today I have realised that both elbows are sore too.

Nothing feels hot, no sweats no other symptoms such as tiredness. I find going up and down stairs hard which makes me sound about 95.

I don't know what the pain of arthritis feels like so I would be keen to know if what I'm experiencing sounds anything like it please or like anything else?

I will book an Drs appointment tomorrow, I tend to avoid it because I worry they will tell me somethings wrong!!

I came on to say not all RA shows in blood tests but Iwish beat me to it.

My mum had severe RA and Psoriatic Arthritis too. Sister has RA. My great grandmother had both that my mum had.

We are all seronegative. Fortunately my GP listened to family history and referred to Rheumatology despite blood results showing nothing.

After mind over matter for about 10 years, I promised my mum I would see the doctor about my various aches and pains. I have been diagnosed with early RA but told to use ibuprofen gel for 2 weeks on areas of flare, tablets if I need them, and they said they are happy for me to be referred back if I feel I need help.

Auto immune do like to stick together, I also have psoriasis and pernicious anaemia

My Dad had pernicious anaemia, you've just reminded me!

I think I will get the blood results back tomorrow. Is really good to hear that it isn't the end of the world - I'm such a worrier and my instinct is the let it go if the bloods come back clear. But I won't, because of all your helpful encouragement, so thank you Smile
