I am very apprehensive about telling this story as I am not sure how it will be received. Please be kind in your replies. Almost 20 years ago, I developed some mild psoriasis and shortly after some arthritis and nail pitting. About 6 months after these symptoms started I had a wisdom tooth removed. Immediately after the tooth was removed I felt so much better. The brain fog lifted immediately. Slowly the pitting grew out of my nails. And the joint pain disappeared. I felt sure that it was linked to the wisdom tooth removal but obviously no idea why. A few months after this happened I felt the pain return. In desparation I decided to almost recreate what happened when I had my tooth removed. At the point in my gum where the tooth no longer was (lower wisdom tooth), I pressed my nail in to feel pain there. Not enough to break the gum or anything but I could feel the pain wash over me from a nerve I was obviously hitting. This provided instant relief again. Over the years I have done this many times and it seems to control symptoms for me. I Haven’t told anyone as I think it sounds so crazy but I started to want to share this story now anonymously just in case this is something anyone else has experienced and start a conversation about this. Perhaps it could lead to more treatments. I have digged around on the internet and I wonder if I am touching the vagus nerve. Electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve has been investigated as a potential treatment for psoriasis treatment and could this be connected to what happened to me. Interestingly vagus nerve stimulation is also linked to depression treatment. And psoriasis and depression seem to have a link too. Could some sort of malfunction of this nerve be the key to what causes this awful disease.
