Private tests for thyroid - would gp take notice?

I have had slowly increasing tsh over the past couple of years - last test it was just under 5. I had an antibody test which showed positive then another follow up tsh test which showed an improvement so nhs said no need to medicate.

I then had a private gp appointment for a work health check and they did me some t3 and t4 tests too. Tsh was back up to 5 but the gp said t3 and t4 were ok but showed I'd had thyroiditis. No need to medicate but keep an eye out and get a retest.

It's now about 8 months later and I have some symptoms again - tired, cold and aches. I was going to get a panel done by medicheck but before I pay out 60 quid, how likely is my nhs go going to be to pay attention to the results? Fairly good surgery with some helpful gps on other things but I found them quite dismissively this issue previously- under 10 tsh = no need to medicate

As a GP, I would treat in line with NICE guidelines that if you have a TSH above the reference range but below 10, on two occasions 3 months apart AND have symptoms of hypothyroidism then a 6 month trial of thyroxine is fine. If you're aged above 65 however there is reason to be cautious about this. I would be happy to use the private blood results when making a decision, and if still uncertain I might email a local endocrinologist.
