Autoimmune protocol diet

To those of you who have tried it, how well did it work for you?

If you have/had hasimotos anti bodies, were the levels of antibodies reduced when you tried it?

And if you tried it, did you reintroduce foods like gluten or dairy.

If you specifically have psoriatic spondyloarthritis, axial spondyloarthritis or RA, did going gluten free alone work for you? Or did it need to be full on gluten and dairy free?

So many questions.... been gluten free for 3 days now. Not an ideal time of year but I'm making it work. Dairy free would be tough due to my love of cheese. But needs must.

How long before you had any benefits/effects of gluten free?

Happy Christmas 🎄

Hi. I'd also be really interested to hear answers to this. Have been gluten free for a couple of years (I think this has helped my gut issues somewhat as I don't get pains or bloating anymore) but dithering over doing a month on the full autoimmune protocol. I have Graves' disease and other low level autoimmune issues which are only going to get worse.
It's just so hardcore though! Maybe January is a good time to do it Xmas Smile

Hi Whatalovelytub.

That's really interesting.

How have you found the gluten free diet has helped? Fewer symptoms? Or just a general sense of well-being and energy?

Following. If this is going to help my Giant Cell Arteritis, I'm all for it!

I've been GF for six years, but cannot fully follow the autoimmune protocol diet as it's way too restrictive and also I don't eat meat.

I think the benefits of a GF diet come in the reduction of processed food.

So I do not buy GF bread, cakes etc. as these are highly processed and full of weird additives.

I eat fish, eggs, nut butter, almond milk, soya yoghurt, fruit, veg, herbs. All simple foods which suit me.

Parsleypot.

Sounds good actually. Reduce strange additives etc.

Do you think it has helped your health in a direct way as reduction in pain?

I started with gluten free because the full autoimmune diet sounded scary.

It's only been just over a week. Im finding I'm eating much healthier. Can't really have pizzas or ready meals and no cake.

However being able to still have cheese is helpful and chocolate. Hence struggling with the idea of the full autoimmune protocol diet. Smile
