Blood and Hypothyroid Test results...can someone explain them to me ?

TSH 10 mu/L (0.2 - 5)
Free Thyroxine 11 pmol/L (10 - 24)

Vitamin D 44 nmol/L (50 - 250)
Haemoglobin A1c(IFCC) 36 mmol/mol
Vitamin B12 206 ng/L (170 - 730)
Ferritin serum 14 ug/L (13-150)
Folate serum 3 ug/L (3.9 - 26.8)

Under blood count.
Eosinophils Absolute 0.65 10*9/L (0 - 0.44)

What do these mean ?

I have been given levothyroxine, folic acid and told to buy Vitamin D and I am to take that lot for the next two months and get another blood test.

Those results would indicate you are hypothyroid i.e. have an underactive thyroid and therefore need to take levothyroxine. Also low ferritin, low Vit D, low B12.

It would be worth investigating further e.g. could you also be coeliac and malabsorption explain low results? You could also get a blood test to check for thyroid antibodies which would indicate Hashimoto's which is an autoimmune form of hypothyroidism. Any other close family with similar issues?

Sorry. I should of explained the doctor did says I was now Hyperthroid.

But he said the B12 was fine. I thought it looked low.

I don't know what the Free Thyroxide result means?

I had a negative test for coeliac last year.

But I do have malabsorption issues with medicine I take for a bowel problem.

Hashimoto's is autoimmune, when you have one autoimmune disease it is common to have others e.g coeliac, type 1 diabetes

epicclusterfuck · 27/07/2018 21:38

B12 does look low! Especially if you have bowel and malabsorption issue it would make sense to get the B12 injections.

Your B12 is definitely on the low side. GPs generally look at the range (which is wrong, I don't care), see that it's within it and say you're fine. Above 500 is better.

Also low Vitamin D, folate and ferritin.

You need TPO and TPAg antibodies tested.

As well as a coeliac test (though they're not 100% conclusive).

Sotiredallthetime · 28/07/2018 12:03

I had a coeliac test last year, which was clear, thank goodness.

However the Fod map diet my consultant put me on this year, for my bowel issues is gluten free and I feel more comfortable without bread and pasta.

What are 'TPO and TPAg antibodies' ?

They're the antibodies tested to confirm hashimotos / autoimmune thyroid disease :)

Sotiredallthetime · 28/07/2018 20:23

Oh right, will ask doctor about that for next blood test.
