My girl has grown out of/ decided she doesn't like some of her clothes and shoes while we are in Melbourne on holiday. We've bought her some new stuff and don't really want to drag all the old stuff home with us.

How easy is it to find/ donate stuff to charity shops here? Can we just show up with a bag of stuff and leave it? We have days out planned around the city and don't want to take it all with us only to bring it back again!

TIA

Hi there,

There are loads of charity or "op shops" as they're called. But you need to find them and walk in, ask if they're taking donations and then leave your things.

Definitely do not leave stuff outside! I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but charity shops have a terrible time with people leaving 'donations' at the door when they cannot store it and most of it goes to rubbish removal/ the tip.

I'm probably too late! But if you look up St Vincents, or the Salvation Army for starters- they have loads of places. It depends where in Melbourne you are.

Good luck X

Thanks, no i wouldn't leave anything outside. I just wondered if you can turn up unannounced during opening hours like I would in the UK.

That's great to know, I'll have a look. Thanks again!
