Hi everyone! Love that there is this section!

I'm an Aussie but have been in the UK for over 20 years. After a recent trip back DH and I are looking to move back with our three kids (2,6 and 7)

Toying with either Sydney or Perth (that's another thread!)

2 year old turns 3 in September so does he start in 2026? Do most go to preschool before school?

Also for anyone whose moved back how have they found the switch for schools? As we start younger in UK I wondered if mine may be slightly more ahead? That said they're actually both behind because of covid!

Anyway any help or advice would be welcome!

Mid Feb will be really bloody hot. It will likely be a huge shock to your system.

In some states the schools are air conditioned and not in others. In Queensland all state school classrooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans.

@BananaBender yes of course. I think we may go towards the end as there is a half term mid feb so we can have a week saying goodbye etc. then we will likely do a week or so in Asia on the way so land early March, then look at schools etc. may work out that they start after Easter. I'm ok with them missing some school as otherwise it's a long wait till December to get the long chunk off.

Oh wow! That's good to know. We certainly didn't have air con in my classrooms in Sydney when I was at school!

to be fair when we have heat in the UK it's crippling in the buildings are they're often insulated against cold. Last year the kids (brand new school) emptied their drawers and filled them with cold water to cool their feet 😂
