I like it...colourful, original subject matter and vibrant. Would love to see the spices in the souls on a different picture too!

Souks even....

msmith501 · 01/05/2020 20:28

It's A1 in size and took about three months to complete after my initial on-site sketches and colour swatches. . The souks and the spices would be lovely.and thanks for the idea.

How many people can you see? My favourite bit is the two tricks just to the right of 12 o'clock

Is this a painting?

Tsubasa1 · 22/05/2020 08:48

Looks very nice! Well done!

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 22/05/2020 08:50

Gosh, that's a painting? I thought it was a holiday photograph!

I thought you wanted thoughts about the actual tanneries. They are certainly picturesque but people are working in medieval conditions waste deep in really nasty stuff, and they stink.

msmith501 · 03/06/2020 23:10

Sorry - I agree re the medieval conditions and the wading through ammonia etc. Not at all nice. It is a painting that I have recently completed (Aug 2019 to Dec2019) - it's A1 size and done in acrylics on a canvas box board. I wanted to show the vibrancy of the setting against the sheer intensity of the labour and the conditions. In the background (top of the picture) other aspects of life around Marrakech. It's my first painting using acrylics or colour for that matter since O level art and it's taken me nearly 39 years to pluck the courage up to touch a brush and attempt to do something without scrunching up the paper and starting again. It's better full size obvs as you can see small samples of family life or specific techniques handed down etc. Thank you for the kind words. Smile
