Sewing machine cabinets

I'm looking for one of those cabinets where the sewing machine is hidden then comes up on a platform when wanted.

I've looked on the net and there seems to be only one make: Horn.

I'm not madly keen as I remember my old aunt having one that was much more substantial and did not look like a kitchen unit from MFI, which I think the Horn ones do.

Anyone know an alternative to Horn cabinets?

Horn are very good. They are sturdy and the little man comes out and fits it all up for you. I even got a little koala bear toy with mine.

I have a Horn. I agree it does look a bit like a kitchen cabinet but it's very sturdy. I keep meaning to change the handles on mine as I think they are the worst looking part of it, but I haven't been arsed found time yet.

ah yes, I did see a notice saying that the price included the fitting...is the storage good in them and are they easy to use and open up (I have bad fingers)?

They often have a stand at quilting or crafing/sewing shows. It's worth having a look at them in the flesh to see what style would suit you best.

I think you could open/close them with bad fingers.

This is the model I bought www.hornfurniture.co.uk/nova.php

Thanks for that link.
I'll go to the Wimbledon shop and check them out.

I found some lovely ones on an American website Roberts was the name but doesn't look like they import to UK
