Bubble painting

Hi,
I tried bubble painting with my DD yesterday. You're supposed to mix paint and washing up liquid, then use a straw to blow into the paint so it bubbles up, then press a piece of paper over the bubbles to get a print.

It didn't work. I didn't get bubbles bug enough to come over the lip of the bowl. I used washing up liquid and paint in equal quantities. Is that right? Was my washing up liquid too cheap? (It was very cheap).

Thanks!

probably cheap liquid, fairy is probably the best as you will get huge bubbles..i loved doing this with my children, and dont use equal amounts a smaller amount of paint wont make the bubble too heavy..good luck..

Cheers. [ashamed of cheap-skate self emoticon]

Was I using the right type of paint? I was using acrylics.

I usually use readymix paint, and put the whole lot in a narrow ish pot - say an oly plastic tumbler if you haven't got a paint pot. You also need to add water to it, to make the whole lot thinner, amd more likely to bubble

Thanks - some experimentation is in order then...
