Does anyone get greetings cards printed?

I'd like to get some good quality greetings cards printed (I've got the artwork); can anyone recommend a printer?

Ideally I'd like a web-based service where I can upload the images myself and see what it all looks like before ordering (like Moo.com, but not as expensive!).

Any pointers really appreciated - thank you.

You're probably better off talking to a local printer.

How many are you looking at having printed? If it's a short run then digital print would be best although the quality won't be as good (not that an untrained eye would probably know!).

Unless you are having thousands printed, you'll find that having them printed litho will be very expensive as the cost will include the set up of the press. A print run of 10,000 will only cost marginally more than a run of 1,000 IYSWIM.

Hope that helps.

Moo.com is indeed really good, but a bit on the expensive side. Try www.vistaprint.co.uk

Not sure they do greeting cards, but if so, the quality of the cards should be as good as their other products. I got some glossy leaflets printed from them and was really positively surprised as to the quality. And from the research I did, it was the best price for these web-based services.

What type of artwork is it?

There are lots of places that can make up stamps from your own designs. Which you could then use to make your own cards.

I got a free "handmade by" stamp done be Vistaprint, and second what rafaellas said.

I've had cards printed from my artwork at FilePrint (www.fileprint.org/uk/index.php) and found them fast & super cheap! On ONE occasion, the colours weren't great, but they have a 'no quibble reprint' policy and their customer service is v good in my experience.

I used this company:

www.digitalcolourservices.co.uk

I'd ask for samples first though as some of the cards weren't as good as others.
