Want something that will stretch and allow for bulging, but not too stretchy.
What fabric did you make yours out of?

Two extremes, Linen, or felt

Flightattendant · 15/12/2009 19:47

Knitted!

Npthing else stretches enough.
I used an old jumper.

TheWorstWitch · 15/12/2009 19:49

Flight, knitted would be my first choice but I don't ahve time to knit and no red jumpers that need a new use either

Flightattendant · 15/12/2009 19:54

Tizzyjacko · 15/12/2009 19:55

Nevergoogle · 15/12/2009 19:57

big woolly kilt socks are great.

LukaSweetBabyJesus · 15/12/2009 19:58

Hey they are great! I really am inspired to go and find a couple of jumpers. It's a great idea!
Also love love your door wreath - your own work?
Gorgeous children, and beautiful paintings
Hope I don't sound too stalkery

Flightattendant · 15/12/2009 20:00

Oh thankyou

I can't take pics off profile, something tech did! So I hide it most of the time as it's got all the old ones of the kids on.

Yes wreath was very quick job using an old wooden embroidery hoop, garden wire and ivy stems. You keep the base year to year and add new foliage. The base is just the hoop with a thick stem wired round it for bulking out iyswim.

peasy

LukaSweetBabyJesus · 15/12/2009 20:03

wreath - It's something I mean to do every year, but normally end up buying one from the WI market or something.

i bought some red cotton for making a tablecloth and then decided to buy a red dressing gown cord and made it into a big santa sack. The children had one each with their names on it and it was so funny watching them get in the sacks when they were little,to try and find there toys. I filled the sacks with those squiggly polystyrene s shapes to make their sacks look as if they were really full and it also made it look like snow.

TheWorstWitch · 15/12/2009 21:00

Oh, gawd, Flight, I'm inspired ... must save up some woolly jumpers ...

Aly, I love the idea of little ones crawling around inside their sack! and the snow is a great touch!

I may have to make sacks next year, depends how greedy the kids get.

Flightattendant · 16/12/2009 06:31

Golly I ought to clarify actually, I didn't make the one on the left - just added to it a bit. I made the slightly less neat one on the right, based on the same design as I couldn't find another knitted one anywhere!

Sorry, been a while since looked at profile

alypaly · 16/12/2009 21:27

flightattendant, the sacks were so big you could pull the draw string and still have them inside. i sewed their names on in a contrasting colour and then cut snowflakes and stars etc out of felt and machined them in place. they were also handy for hiding everything up in the loft
