Gluing fabric onto a cardboard notebook - what glue?

I'm thinking of covering a notebook with some lovely fabric to make a journal for my mum. What sort of glue would be best, and any tips to make it non-crusty and non-bubbly! Annd not peel off after a week!

I would think run of the mill PVA would do it.

Yep, speaking as an amateur bookbinder, I also reckon PVA will do it. Test it on a bit of the fabric first to make sure it doesn't soak through (this will only happen if it's very thin fabric).

When you've glued the fabric on, leave it to dry with a couple of heavy books or similar on top, to stop the covers warping as the glue dries.

Great thanks. Amateur booking binding, that sounds cooking, do you have any photos of examples?

Um, that sounds cool - that sounds cooking sounds like some weird retro phrase!

No photos immediately to hand, no - sorry - but you'd be amazed the amount of PVA and bog-standard cardboard used in binding the most beautiful and precious books!

Ressurrecting this again. Just wondering if nice paper would be better than fabric? Not sure where to get either from tbh. If I was to use paper what sort would I use? Would fabric be better? Anyone got any good sources for nice fabric (not too expensive?)
