Making party bags a bit more special

I have a couple of months before 6 yr old dd's b'day and would like to see if I can do nice bags this year without spending too much (dont want to use ready made up services either).

We went to a friend's party recently and my 5 yr old got a 'glasses case' type handbag with a few sweets in it and she was over the moon. 2 yr old got a little miss naughty (how appropriate!) purse with a few sweets as well. It was a nice variation.

Any other ideas or sources for getting things?

you should do a search because there have been a few threads with great ideas on this topic.

In the past we have done:
little terra cotta pots with some sunflower seeds, and a couple of sweets in them.

Home made cookies decorated with sweets, and each child's name writen on in icing.

A plastic pot (cheap from supermarket) filled with home made playdoh, and a couple of cookie cutters tied on with ribbon.

Little cellophane bags, and inside each one we had an assortment of lolly pops, including one wooden toy lolly (they were haha brand ones I thinki - cost about 1.50
each)

This year, for DD's 5th (a 'flower' party), I have little white cardboards noodle boxes, and each will have 3 little home made flower cookies, a mini pot of bubbles, a mini cookie cutter and some flowery stickers.

another idea we haven't tried yet (as I think mine are a bit young)

Buy some fabric markers/paints, and let each child decorate a t-shirt or pillowcase, which they can then take home.

Oh, and another one we have done - let each child decorate a paper bag with markers, glitter etc, and then have a sweetie hunt in the garden. The kids take home their bag filled with their loot. As a variation on this, if you are handy with a sewing machine, you could sew some simple calico bags, and let the kids decorate them with fabric markers, then take those home.

A friend of mine decorated little cooler bags with each childs name and a felt motif. The party was a picnic, so each child was given their bag with their party lunch inside, and then took the bag home.
