Pens/crayons for a 16 month old

I'm probably being too pfb and a box of crayolas is fine but everything I look at says 3yrs and upwards. She's got some little ball things that are pens but she doesn't like them. So mnetters with toddlers, what do they draw with?

TIA

We use short, thick wax crayons under supervision (if you value your walls!).

They'll be 3 and over because of the choking hazard should your child bite a chunk off. If you're watching, they'll be fine. We used short stubby crayons from Early Learning Centre.

We used the Crayola 'Minikids' pens for a while. They are a bit more chunky, and easily washable I think they're called Beginnings now: see this page

Thank you I've set up her little table and chair and she loves sitting at it so hopefully it'll minimise the pen on wall potential...in my dreams...

She has the TaDoodles on that page but is not keen and prefers normal pen shaped. Thanks for that

Tomy Aquadraw is great and no crayon on your walls either

We've got twistable crayons purchased from Staples although I have my own from Crayola. The Staples ones are shorter and easier for DD (2yrs) to handle. The only bit of exposed crayon is the end you use so nothing for them to take a chunk out off, and as they are sturdy pen like outers they don't snap or turn "dirty" mixed in the pencil tin.

Only disadvantage we have is guests have no idea what they are or how to use them

pens. LAd got very frustrated with crayons at that age as he didn;t use enough force to get them to eave any noticeable marks... chunky felt tip pens however he liked. either take the tops away or sit with them while they use.
Lad was never a boy to suck/lick random stuff however, so YMMV

The Crayola colour wonder range is fab, only works on the special books so no mess or accidental pics on the walls
