Need opinions on name for Folksy shop

Have been making jewellery for a while now, and sell it at occasional craft fairs and at my dance class, and am going to take the plunge to go on-line (but only in a small way) by starting on Folksy.
Was going to use my real name on Folksy as it's a professional kind of thing, and wondered about "N-'s Niceties" as a shop name? Does that sound ok, or does it look like I should be selling ties and cravats? It might be different in writing than when I say it . . .
Opinions welcome - and suggestions!

very honest opinion??
It sounds like you bake cakes and have business cards you made yourself using Word Art.

Your name would sound much more professional. It is like you are scratching around for a word to begin with N.

You should use your full name, or a completely unrelated, yet positively emotive word instead.

Good luck in your venture!

Um, you've just summed me up quite nicely .
It would be my full first name, which is unusual enough not to need a surname with it (and too unusual for me to put on a public forum like MN). I thought something beginning with "N" would be alliterative, and I make more than necklaces, so it wouldn't be that!
Will keep thinking.

I agree that 'Niceties' sounds a little twee, sorry. Why don't you just use yur name?

escape · 28/02/2009 17:02

If you have an usual and exotic sounding first name - then there's your answer!

FromGirders · 28/02/2009 19:57

I thought my name on its own might look a bit bare for a shop name. Doesn't anyone like "niceties"?
May have to change name to bunty cupcake

FromGirders · 01/03/2009 16:28

I quite like Bunty Cupcake actually!
DON'T call it "Nicola's" (or whatever your N name is!) it looks like a transport caff. agh!
What else do you make? What are your influences? Nature/people/geometrical shapes/colours/textures? Give us some clues so we can help with more ideas!

I'm four hours ahead, so not some sad middle of the night thread stalker!

FromGirders · 01/03/2009 18:12

Phew, I'm glad about that. Would hate to have been giving you nightmares!
Kitbit, I do jewellery with glass lampwork beads, semi precious gemstones and swarowski crystals. Atm I am into wire knitting. Do quite a lot of belly-dance type accessories too - lots of jingly coins. And sparkles!

Your stuff sounds really interesting, I'd love to see it. Is there a link yet, or can you post a pic on your profile?

FromGirders · 01/03/2009 18:31

I haven't actually set up the shop yet, but will no doubt be linking from here when I do!
Will i need to do a small biz ad for that, or is it ok to link to an on-line shop from an arts and crafts thread??

ooooh lovely

Will have a think...

The good names you see are usually either a mix of two such as Kittyknits, or a completely random word that has nothing to do with it, which is OK if you have a shop front so people can see what you do and the name doesn't have to spell it out, or if you're planning to put your website or items in a place that clearly indicates what they are (like etsy.com).

hmm...
