I need a pattern for making a kangaroo costume

DD's school have asked the children to dress up as animals for World Book Day. As DH is Australian, we thought it would be fun to go as a kangaroo. I have found a length of suitably furry material, but would appreciate some help. I thought of making a simple tabard with a pouch and a long tail, but DH thinks it would be more fun to make a proper costume. Where to look for a pattern? Google seems to lead mainly to US sites (even when I specify searching in the UK), but perhaps I am not looking in the right places.

DD went as a kangaroo to an Australia day party a few yars ago.

IIRC the basic furry costume came from this book It started life as a camel with ashort tail and then became Fantastic Mr Fox - no tail, just massive sticking plaster cross on the bum, then finally the kangaroo - long heavy tail.

I'll try to find a pic of her to put on profile.

Make a basic jumpsuit/catsuit, add a hood and a tail.

I'd make you a pattern if I my back wasn't so rough at the moment, but it should be easy enough.

midnightexpress - he will do most of it, I expect. He is very hands on with that kind of thing. So no need to worry about the gender relations for this project, thanks.
