Hi just wondered if you've heard of Coriandr - it's like Folksy, ie Uk version of Etsy.

Items are free to list at present and reduced commission for sales.

I've opened a shop on there today, and fter speaking to some friends in th craft world, apparently there's alot of good things being said about it.

I hope it's of some interest to some of you.

Ooh thank you, that looks great, am going to look into this for illustration.

Looks lovely.

Is it new? There isn't a huge number of things listed but that hasn't stopped me spending a lot of money in my head.

What are you selling moonmother?

{smile] Niecie

I design and handmake jewellery, so sadly I'm in the only category that does have a lot in it at the moment.

I actually opened my shop yesterday morning and had my 1st sale last night.

I have my own website and shop , but also have a Folksy shop too, Folksy's been good for me I've had a large number of sales on there, so I'm hoping Coriandr has the same effect.

I don't think it's been open long, but apparently there is a large Craft Movement Trend starting in the Uk at the moment , and sites like these are becoming all the more popular.

Also Folksy will be starting selling Uk sellers crafts Internationally from the end of the month. They are going totally International later on in the year , but at present are concentrating on getting Uk Crafters 'out there'.

Which is good for us crafters.

I'm impressed you have already sold something! That must be a confidence boost.

I have to admit it was the jewellery that was enticing me to spend money even though I can make some of it myself - I have a hugely impressive stash of beads although I lack the time and expertise to create some of the things they have on there and I still like to buy other people's work. I keep promising myself I will do a course some time but haven't yet.

I have a craft related website too (although selling supplies rather than anything I have made at the moment) and I have been reading on various crafting websites how craft sellers are hopefully going to be relatively recession proof as people try to spend less by buying cheaper but more personal gifts, like one off creations from crafters, or alternatively, things they have made themselves. I hope that is true.

I haven't really spent very much time looking at Folksy, I must admit, so I will have to have another look. I like Etsy but haven't bought or sold anything. I don't think buying and selling in dollars really works in our favour at the moment though so I just look. There certainly seems to be a resurgence in all sorts of crafts which can only be a good thing for us, as you say.
