...on my profile. It's for a friend's new baby due next week. I'm so chuffed!

It says your profile is not public?

I'm interested to see - I'm just about to learn crochet and I want to do a baby blanket!

Littlefish · 18/02/2009 20:14

I want to see it too .

My mum's tried to teach me to crochet so many times but I just can't get the hang of it.

ShortButNotSweet · 18/02/2009 21:31

DutchOma · 18/02/2009 21:42

Bloody hell man, that is so cute. I love it. I've tried hopelessly to teach myself to crochet, but I just don't get it. Where did you learn to do that?

Whizzz · 18/02/2009 22:23

I tried to follow a tutorial for making a 'simple' flower - I made a purple blob .
I can see in my head where the stitches are supposed to go but can't do it in practice! I've been trying over & over with the same flower, I did make something that resembled a flower but unfortunately undid it thinking I could improve on it - I couldn't!

Bumperslucious · 18/02/2009 22:25

A woman at my knitting group taught me the basics and I did the project from this book. I had a little problem with the slip ring (adjustable ring) as the book didn't explain it properly so I used a video.

I'm loving crochet, but I think initially you do need someone in person to show you where to stick the bloody hook!

It's easy to follow patterns once you know the basic stitches. Online help and books are ok but they don't tell you which holes to use and how to recognise where your stitches are, so you do need someone who can show you. Also, crochet is much more forgiving than knitting.

I'm no experienced crafter, I try lots of different things and am not particularly delicate, but seem to have really picked this up.

That's gorgeous!!!
Well done!
Am tempted to get the book now!

Bumperslucious · 19/02/2009 09:11

I would recommend it. There is a lovely corsage that I have made too, it's going to make a lovely present.

Lovely . I've started a baby blanket, having discovered you can crochet and bf (not knit tho). Pattern is here for 2.4lkids:

DutchOma · 19/02/2009 09:43

That is lovely, Bumper. Have you posted it on Ravelry yet?

2pt4kids · 19/02/2009 09:45

Thank you Effie

MrsWeasley · 19/02/2009 09:50

its lovely. well done,

I couldn't get to grips with crochet. All I made was lovely round coasters, lots of them (trouble is the pattern was for a square little blanket!)

Kathyis6incheshigh · 19/02/2009 09:54

That's terrific, clever you!

oggsdog · 19/02/2009 09:54

That's so sweet . Well done Bumper.

I really can't get the hang of crochet. I can't progress beyond a single chain despite having loads of books.
Like you say I think I need someone to actually show me where to put the hook.
