am thinking seriously of finding a printmaking course to widen my illustration horizons - just wondering whether anyone has any experience and could advise - I have little space to work in at present, though hope to have use of a studio by the late spring.

Monotype printing requires the least amount of equipment; lino block printing is good if you want to make multiple copies of your prints. If you try these and like them you can look into investing in the gear for acid etching (metal plates, chemicals etc) or lithography, which uses a special stone.

thanks duffpancake - I was thinking of monoprints and lino, but just wanted to hear about other options..

I thought screenprinting might suit you too for using in illustration as it's the easiest one to print with multiple colours.

thanks - will do a bit of research ! I do like the idea of lino because it'd suit my current style..plus is easy/cheapish to do - apart from jabbing yourself with blade as I recall !

Even for lino it's worth finding somewhere you can use a press as you get a beautifully crisp image compared to just printing manually.

I've not done any printing for ages and this is really making me miss it!

I definitely want to try to do it properly,if I'm going to attempt it !
