Cursive (joined up) writing, does it look childish?

My handwriting is awful, and so is my pen grip, so I have decided to take the matter in hand (ha ha) in time for June exams. Have found that cursive writing comes quite naturally (though am far from perfect) and makes me have a perfect pen grip-however, will my future writing style look like an 11 year old child's (albeit a neater than I 11 year old child!). Am currently using a berol handwriting practice book, and really enjoying the effort of writing!

Well done you! I wish I had taken time to improve mine (although I work with GP's and no-one can read their writing!).

DS's writing improved tremedously when he had a decent fountain pen as the nib makes you hold it a certain way.

The way I scrawl generally means I hold my pen on my ring finger, so cannot get comfortable with grip positioning pens, so hopefully this may help! So you don't think I will look like a ten year old to the examiners? I don't know why I am so paranoid about this but I really am!

no, i think cursive looks much more grown up than printing! and the more you do it the better you'll get at it, esp if it feels more natural to you

Thank you both-it really does look pathetic at the moment, there are year four children at dd's school that do it better, but it shall be overcome, it SHALL!! Oooh, I could be known as the one with neat writing one day-I have never been known as the lady with neat writing!
