Lucky old me got the Jan Constantine book for Xmas and I'd like to make some of the cushions. I need Wool felt (doesn't say if 100% or 70/30 mix) I can find small sheets but need by the metre. Anyone know where from? Ta x

oh just saw the by the metre bit - if you want 100% that would be pricey. You can felt old wool jumpers but washing hot in the machine and use the back of them.

Thanks OF, I found that website, but their squares a just a little too small for a cushion.
Unfortunately I haven't got any jumpers to felt, I wear them until they've totally had it

What about charity shops / jumble sales for jumpers?

jINGLESbells · 28/12/2008 22:40

Thanks but last time I looked in my local charity shop, there was nothing pure wool, just acrylic/nylon mixes. It's tiny though, as I'm rural. I'll keep looking....

IIRC John Lewis do a high wool content felt by the metre, at least it's better quality than what you get in Hobby craft or the average haberdashery shop, much more fine, smooth and even.

here?

Ha Ha!
I've found some here... just in case anyone wants some
1/2 metre will do...
Am feeling dead chuffed now.
Thanks all

I saw that website but thought the price was higher, must have been looking at different page.

If you have an old 100% wool blanket in a pale colour, you could cut it up and dye it the colours you want, then felt it. Or felt first, dye later? Hmm. Anyway, I also have had problems finding proper woollen felt and the nicest felty bits I ever bought for crafting (from a knitting show) were hand-felted and dyed blanket pieces!

i have dyed and felted a blanket here
