Knitting on circular needles - is it hard??

I am just waiting for my circular needle to arrive through the post so i can start knitting a wool soaker nappy wrap.

I watched a video on knittinghelp.com. looks straightforward-ish!

Does anyone have any tips / advice?
My knitting skills are intermediate.

The only tricky bit is making sure your row of cast-on stitches isn't twisted when you join the two sides. Once that's done, it's really easy, easier than normal knitting. (Particularly if you knit German-style rather than English)

But I strongly recommend making sure your cast-on stitch is a relatively bulky one, if you just use a simple twist sort of cast-on, then making sure there's no twist is fiendishly difficult.

It's really easy

Yes it is really easy. What I do to stop it twisting is that I wedge one end of the circular needle down with someting heavy and then make sure all the stitches are lying the same way. Even so I have been known to make twists

ok, just practised a new casting on technique... will see how it works on the circulars

I am baffled by the existence of a circular needle. It sounds like an impossibility to me. I think you should stick to ones with pointy ends.

Circular needles have pointed ends too, Boco

easy

look on www.knittinghelp.com for videos.

and a good tip: when you join up the cast on stitches, swap a stitch over to the over side so you knit the first stitch on the left needle, then the first stitch on your right needle, then carry on as normal. that probably doesn't make sense...

'over side' should read 'other side'
