how to measure someone for knitting?

my aunt is knitting some jumpers/cardigans for the dcs for christmas and has asked for measurements what do i need to measure

Hi, having experienced the same dilemma, presuming she is only knitting jumpers / cardigans then you'll need to measure their chest, their back length (base of neck to top of hips - or where their jumper normally rests) and their arm length (from armpit to wrist). If it would be easier then measure an existing jumper which fits them well the same way (for chest just measure from under arm seam to under arm seam and double it). Hope this is all clear x

Make sure though that you tell her what you have measured:- child or jumper. If there are any special requirements like, for instance, the child has extra long or extra short arms, then tell her that as well. It is incredibly easy to adjust a knitting pattern.
