What Christmas crafts can i do with my DS1? He is 3, so i was thinking of making cookie christmas decorations, what else? Is he too young for paper chains? I'd like to get him involved in making stuff, but my mind has gone blank.. BTW he is a normal little boy, ie he has the attention span of a gnat, he is not one of those quiet ones who concentrates on tasks for a whole 2 minutes...

Hand and foot print angels

Do a foot print on paper. Turn paper upside down - toes make frilly edge of the dress.
Do two hand prints (fingers down) for the wings either side.
Add dress, features and halo.
Add glitter.

Sugar decorations

Make the sugar mix with sugar, water and some food colouring. Needs to be damp and pliable, not too soggy.
Press into mould (we had bells) like you would make a sandcastle.
Tap out gently.Add a half unfolded paper clip into top (to make hanger)
Leave for ages to dry

Hand print christmas tree

Make loads and loads of green (various shades) hand prints.
When dry cut out
On big piece of paper, add tree trunk and then stick the hand prints on (upside down; fingers downwards) into tall tree triangle shape. You can use the edge of a knife to curl the fingers to give it a 3D effect.

Stain Glass Windows

Cut out the shape on black card (angel, candle, etc)
Stick tissue paper onto back of paper.

OR

Colour in a picture with heavy was crayon (press on hard)
Then rub over paper with some oil or fat (we used linseed at school)
This makes the paper transulenct.

Stick onto window.

Paper snowflakes

Fold some white paper in half, then half again, and again.
Tear shapes out of the piece of paper.
Gently open to show your snowflakes
