my friend has recently helped with cutting things out for our messy play group, she used one of these cutter things..

I have been looking at them on the internet last night and it is like a foreign language..

how big are the shapes these things cut? (she cut quite small people shapes and shoes and things it was brilliant) the children are from walking age to 3 years old so the things work best if they are quite large..

Are there better cutters to get etc..

if anyone has any experience of these things I would appreciate you sharing your wisdom.

Thanks

Have a look at cuttingedgecrafts.co.uk - they have one of the best ranges (I don't work for them - just buy loads of stuff there )

The paper dolls (larger size) are about 10cm tall but there are smaller ones too.

I haven't heard great things about the cuttlebug cutter, but the big shot or big kick are supposed to be good

Let me know if you want to know anything else - I'll warn you - it's addictive!!

thanks

are the cutters interchangeable between manufacturers.. so if I found cuttlebug cutters could I use them in a BOG SHOT machine?

Hi greyskull!!

I have a big shot and they are great for quickly cutting shapes. But... they can be addictive and a very expensive hobby . I think that most of the cutters are interchangeable. Check out the sizzix website for more info on the big shot.

The big shot is a very big machine. There are smaller versions.

Thanks!
At the moment I spend all of sunday cutting out things for the messy play group - anything that could save me a little time would be brilliant
we want the things that we have cut to be quite big - so I am guessing that we have to have a big machine for that?

the size of the dies would be more relevant... and then the machines that take these.

Do you have a hobbycraft store near you. They stock most products so you could at least have a look.

Also, lots of people sell sizzix die cuts on ebay for a pittance. You could see if there is anything that you need there?

ooh I really am going to get addicted!

Off topic - how did you get on looking at schools last week bytheway?

I'll post back on that thread .

I usually buy my crafty bits here. As their products have expanded, they site has become very busy... but you should find cutting systems on the left hand side.

This store might not be too far from you?

a warning - the red sizzix dies are 7.99 each so it gets an expensive hobby!

bythepower - i have a pink&black sizzix big shot - i love it!

reasons i love it
a. it cuts large shapes
b. it also cuts felt/fabric/leather with the thick/original dies
c. you can use all brands of dies - it comes with a special platform so that you can use thick or thin dies and embossing stencils and texture plates.
d. it's quick & it's easy

it has cost me a small fortune BUT i have saved money by buying dies from fellow crafters and from eBay.

i bought mine here
