Mulberry and other 'hand made' type paper.......

I want to make our own Christmas cards this year using pictures dd has drawn stuck onto thick handmade type paper.

I ordered a load of mulberry paper as I thought it looked like what I wanted, but it arrived today and is far too thin.

Does anyone know where I can get this type of paper but thick enough to use as a card?

I've had some in the past but can't for the life of me remember what it was called or where it came from.

Hobbycraft?

Is that an online shop?

nope, usually in retail parks

Have just had a look. The nearest one to me is at least 80 miles away and would take me well over an hour and a half to get to.

Bugger.

Thanks anyway

It's hard to get thick mulberry paper - proper handmade stuff is expensive.
Why don't you use a square of the thinner mulberry stuck onto a card blank with the drawings stuck onto the mulberry paper?

I think I may end up doing that Whizz.

I wonder what glue would be best? Do you reckon PVA would work? I suppose it wouldn't matter if it puckered up a bit.

any good?

Like WAOAB suggestion

if its very thin mulberry you have to be careful with glue cos it shows through - double sided tape is best - although you may be ok if you glue under where the drawing will sit (which would look nice because the edges would be 'loose')

Thanks MNP but it's not really what I'm after. I'm after a more earthy/organic/natural feel.

I suppose I'll have to experiment with the glue Whizzz.

I've actually found some thick mulberry paper here although the colour selection isn't great.

I was after more aubergine/teal/midnight blue/moss greeny type colours.

Fussy. Moi?

Ooh, that looks more like it. Thankyou! The first one has free p&p too. Bonus.
