Can you help me rescue a lampshade...please?!!

I just tried to cover a cotton empire shade with a lovely piece of two tone silky stuff.

I cut it roughly to shape and stretched it over the existing shade, using spray on glue as I went.

The trouble is it still has patches of dark glue all over it, and I don;t know if these are going to dry and fade or just stay like they are

in which case it's ruined really. The silk looks lovely but the glue isn't so good. Especially when light is on iyswim.

Does anyone know if it might dry? Did I use the wrong sort of glue? Should I take it off, wash it and try again?

TIA

what do the instructions on the glue say? possible you could try warm soapy water and see how that goes.

I wouldn't take it off. The fabric might stretch out of shape and you'll never get it back on to look as good. If the glue stains, buy some stick on gems or something and go for the bling look to cover the stains.

Hmm. I am a bit thick obv. as it is actually meant for sticking linoleum to concrete. That's not your ideal lamp making glue really is it

It says you can remove excess with white sirit whilst wet but I don't think I will do that.

Just pressed fingers hard onto dark patches and they are still sticky...it's been an hour - but maybe that means they will dry by morning.
