My daughter would like to learn to crochet. She finds the videos etc difficult (too fast paced) so really it means I need to figure it out and then show her hand over hand. I bought a Toft beginner kit but I think it’s for adults - the pattern is complicated and the wool/hook quite fine which makes it difficult to work out which stitch to go through. I need a super easy kit for an easy win before she gets fed up.
She has some coordination difficulties so learning this sort of thing is tough - but good for her when she masters it.

the woobles kits are very good but quite pricey. thewoobles.com/en-gb You buy the kit with wool, hook etc and it gives you a code to access their videos which are very good - slow and clear. The kits have everything you need. I bought a supposedly beginner Toft kit for my adult dd and it seems much less user friendly.

A kit might not be the best place to start, instead take a look at free patterns on yarnspirations or drops website.
Buy cheap and chunky wool, in a bright color, and the corresponding hook size to practice with. For crochet a good place to start is hats that are worked flat, so you can just focus on getting the hand of the stitches.
I love Toft, but it is really good wool and it can be intimidating to use the good wool when you are starting out.

Good luck!

Some cheap double knitting and a 4 or 5mm hook is all you need. Bellacoco for videos.

Have you tried watching Bella Coco on Youtube, her videos are great and you can slow them down. Just make sure to pick the right handed or left handed ones as appropriate!

Also, Very Pink Knits on Youtube has some super slow-mo videos of both knitting and crochet.

Have a look at blossom crochet on you tube. I found them good to follow.

I second Bella Coco.

Here are some small projects to try. Ones like the keyring / hairband are good to start with as they start with a rectangle.

I started with a scarf as my first project - which was good practice, but took a long time and wasn't particularly interesting. If she does decide to so something like that, I recommend patterned yarn as it looks quite impressive and distracts from a wobbly make when you are not consistent with the tension (my scarf is VERY wobbly!).
