Want to keep a stock of kids t shirts for decorating when friends come around - anyone know where I can get some at a good price?

asda 75p each! Or try charity shops!

ja9 · 05/06/2008 23:33

tesco and primark

but that asda price requires some beating!

definitly asda... there is a a reason that DH won't take me there very often.. aside from the nearest one beign in Derby...

I'm sorry, I know you will probably shout at me, but very cheap T shirts are very cheap for a reason.
The cotton farmers and factory workers suffer, as does the environment.
Having said that, I don't believe that, for example, Asda's more expensive T shirts are any more ethical than their cheap ones.

These people are slightly better than Asda/Tesco, and even do some organic

vInTaGeVioLeT · 08/06/2008 16:37

having had a look at that site - i can't find anything to show they're more ethical than tesco/asda/ etc - how do you find that stuff out?
i've bought a few organic cotton t-shirts for me and the kids but wonder how do i tell if the farmers/workers are better off?

TooTicky · 08/06/2008 16:43

At least with organic cotton, the farmers are not subjected to the appalling effects of the chemicals.

The site I linked to isn't perfect, but they are not quite so up to their necks and beyond in skulduggery as the big supermarkets. And they do offer organic though, and I think somewhere they have some fair trade.
Also, theirs are generally better quality and so will last longer, therefore better environmentally.

It is a minefield though - so many issues to consider.

Will come back later with ethical alternatives once I have quizzed dp.

Ticky is right though
