Cutting wheels for dressmaking

I was inspired by Sewing Bee to buy one of these, as on the programme they look so easy. But, unless I put a lot of pressure on, I end up with bits where it hasn't cut through.
So I've gone back to my scissors.
Does anyone else have the same problem?

I had this issue when I bought a cheap one. Firstly try a fresh blade and if that doesn't work try a slightly more expensive cutter. I think that the cheaper ones sometimes the blade rubs on the body of the cutter and goes blunt just at one point. I only have experience of trying one and then buying a different one once though.

That figures, as the gaps are regular. Thank you.

I have one that I use for cutting the fabric strips for hooky and proggy rugmaking, so it gets a LOT of use.

Mine works pretty well (until the blade is overused and blunted). I do occasionally get missed bits though, and my impression is that I have held the tool at a wrong angle when this happens, or whizzed along the line too fast.

Mine is a fairly good quality one (possibly fiskars but I can't remember offhand).

I have used one for years and years. They do need a bit of pressure, and I also always run over twice just to make sure. Check the blade. Once you get the hang of it, they are brilliant and such a time saver.
