Is there anywhere that I can get beautiful natural textured fabrics like those that M&M sell, but that are less expensive? The ones that I really love are all north of £30 a metre. I really like the sort of sludgy aubergine and blues they do

I have previously bought linen from Minerva or First for Fabrics which are both quite reasonable and then have used dylon machine dye to get the colour I wanted if they didn’t have it. The M&M fabrics are beautiful though!

Good fabric does tend to be pricey. Croft mill do a decent selection of good value cotton chambray with a lovely hand and the linen look cotton that Pound Fabrics sells has a wonderful texture for summery trousers. It's hard to find the richer, more complex colours elsewhere, I agree. There is so much garish viscose about.

That's a good idea, thanks!

I thought that might be the case! I'll check out your suggestions, thanks

That was a great tip! I also really like how there are pictures of projects that people have done with it below the listing

This is the one I meant. The one you linked is a quilting fabric (which I have also used!). This is slightly crinkly and is quite substantial without being too stiff. I've made a Factory dress and some Closet Core Sepia pants with it.

Oh thank you! Much appreciated. Haven't sewed since I was a teenager so this is all fairly new to me
