Bobbin...case? Plate? Help with broken singer futura

I was finishing off a quilt today and suddenly my machine shuddered and beeped red. I opened the bobbin latch(?) and the metal bed that the bobbin case sits in has flipped about 30 degrees rather being flat. I hope you can see from my photo.

My question is what has actually happened here and does anyone know if I can fix this myself or if I have to get it fixed professionally how to explain the issue and the approximate cost? Thanks so much

I'm not certain if you can fix it, but you can definitely unscrew the plate it's sitting under to get a better look (and clean out all the fluff that gets caught there)

Something similar happened once to my Singer Brilliant, I think because the bobbin thread had snagged on something and that had pulled the bobbin assembly out of line. I took off the bobbin plate, took the bobbin assembly apart, reassembled it and everything was good. It's definitely worth a try. The instruction booklet should tell you how to do it.

Thank you both so much! Hopefully I can just jig it back into place! 😊

@Ensconcedinvelvet Have a look on youtube, there are several Singer Futura videos about removing the plate and sorting out the bobbin housing, it might help you out.

Yes, it should be easy to slot back in place ore replace if damaged. Just unscrew the plate and then it just lifts out. Amazon sells replacements.

This is now fixed and it was a piece of cake to do so! I just unscrewed the top and gave it a good dusting out, there was a snapoed needle wedged under it! Removed that, re-covered and she's back to purring!!

Glad you fixed it. That cleaning out ideally needs doing between every project or after 8 hours of sewing, whichever cones sooner.

Well crikey. I'd better up my dusting game then!

She will thank you for it!

I'm glad it was so quickly sorted!

It's amazing to see how much fluff and muck accumulates around the bobbin assembly. I need to clean my machine and change the needle later.
