Badge making machine

Dd (13) would love a badge maker for Christmas. I’ve been googling and want something decent quality but the ‘proper’ ones are around £400 mark. Can anyone recommend anything cheaper? I’m itchy about the plastic ones as they look like they’ll break after ten minutes and it’s really hard to find reviews and info to find how well they actually work.

There are lots on eBay. Maybe you could get a good one secondhand?

I have had a plastic one for around 12 years and it’s still going and being used.
Hands down the best present I’ve even gotten. And the most used!

That's a good idea - I never thought of a preloved one.

Do you happen to know what brand it was?

Glad I could help. eBay is often really good for was second hand craft equipment.

We have a badge it. This thread inspired us to pull it out this afternoon

We got one from a company called Vevor. The one we got was about £60.

DD has one from ebadges, the micro starter kit. It's about £70. It's good quality (not plastic) but you can only make the small button badges with it. The machines that can be used to make bigger badges seem to be a lot more expensive.

I second Vevor, I have one from them (metal) and the badge bit is interchangeable too so one machine can do lots of sizes. I use it for my small business and love it.

We got a plastic one from Amazon for a charity I work with

Badge Machine Button Maker, 25+32+58mm 300 Sets Plastic Badge Pin Back Zimiking with 10 Bottle Openers, 10 Key Chain Sets, Shapes & Round Paper Cutter (Purple) amzn.eu/d/3P8TuQS

It has made well over 300 badges as we have had refills for it. Sometimes it needs a bit of TLC to line everything back up but it came with 3 sets of plates (different sizes) and is very easy to use.

My DDs were given one as a present, just a toy one, not a professional type one. They had a lot of fun with it and it was a good buy, I'd guess they were 12/13 when they got it. I think we bought additional badge things when the ones it came with ran out as they asked for more.

I was wondering about second hand ones too but feel a bit nervous in case they don’t work because it’s a present for DD. Has anyone seen any Black Friday deals or got any brands to look out for?

My daughter had a badge making machine years ago when she was a child, it was one of the best loved presents she got and used it for years. I can’t remember the make but I’m sure it was big standard one from a well known retailer.
