I'm going into ds's class tomoorrow morning to do 'art' with them. They're aged between 4 and 5. Teacher says to keep it reeeeally simple so I was thinking of printing out some food illustrations that I did myself and getting them to colour them in and cut them out to make a big food pyrimid. Sort of like the one I did here
It would be simple and not messy but is it too boring and educational? Also is making food pyrimids for this age too preachy?

If yes does anyone have any other ideas?

I think its a good idea

could you also get them to "make meals" with the foods? e.g. have to put wheat, tomatoes and cheese together to make a pizza

yes, I like the meal making idea too! and maybe smoothies.

Think it's a cracking idea. Do they get to do the sticking, too? . My DS loves glue!

If it involves glue my dd (5) would love it.

I was also thinking instead of colouring in they could stick down coloured tissue paper. it might make it more 3d looking.

I agree it's simple and nice but isn't colouring in a bit .. well dull .. schools rely on this it seems to me

I like the idea of cutting out but some children might not be able to master the scissors (be aware is all)

yes to the sticking on coloured paper .. if you use tissue paper they could see what layers of different colours make .. and how if you scrunch it up you get 3d effects

yes you know have marmite approval
