Crocheting a meerkat

My daughter in law is being given a 'meerkat experience' by my son for her birthday. I thought I might like to knit or crocet her a meerkat and have found this pattern. Unfortunately I don't even begin to understand the pattern and haven't got a 'slicker brush' Any experts out there?

oh, lol this thread title and the finished article have brightened up an otherwise dull Saturday evening. My DH even had a look as he was intrigued.

Can't help on the deciphering though; I only know how to do crochet squares using single stitch.

I've nearly done the head. And discovered a fault in the pattern...I think. It seems wildly difficult and I don't know whether I will finish it. Have sent out an SOS to ranting, but she hasn't answered yet.
Thanks for your encouragement, if it ever gets finished I'll post a picture and MAYBE consider taking orders. The second time has got to be better

I wrote to Brigitte Reid before lunch asking for help with the merkat and had an answer after lunch. There is a fault in the pattern and she has answered all the questions I had...for now

Well, he is finished and he is rather lovely. I have posted a picture on my profile. I wrote to Brigitte Read again, but got no reply this time. The pattern has quite a few errors in it and assumes a greater knowledge of making crochet toys than I have.
Mind you, KnittingFrog from my Ravelry Northants group saw the pattern and made one just like that, then she helped me getting mine done.
