100% cotton question

I have just finished a crochet top (pattern from my head) based on one I saw on tv. Found it online and it was over £200 (i think) to buy and said 100% cotton.

From wool shop I bought 100% cotton yarn (Drops cotton light) and top looks amazing except after 5 mins of wear it’s stretching like crazy. It’s also really hot to wear and not breathable like I hoped. Is this normal for 100% cotton yarn? Any suggestions on better yarn for summer crochet tops?

Can you add pictures?

IIRC Drops cotton light is a cotton/microfibre mix so I'd have thought it would hold its shape better than pure cotton of the same weight. It's hard to know without seeing the garment, but I suspect the stretching is due to weight, tension or stitch choice, or a combination of them.

Any knitted:crochetitem is insulating. Even t shirts. The fabric creates little holes that trap air. I never wear knitted fabrics when it’s hot. They all stretch a bit and cotton yarn is the worst imo. It’s heavy.

A lightweight linen may have been a better choice.
