How to hand sew knitting to fabric?

I've posted a photo of the knitting and the fabric on my profile - it's tough to tell from this but it's cashmerino aran knitting and the fabric is kind of a fleece - very soft and a little bit stretchy (thought this would be more forgiving).

Now what?? I'm thinking I pin it all together and then I really don't know what kind of stitch to use, etc. I was thinking it might look nice after I've sewn it for strength to take some embroidery thread and loop around the edges for a nice finish.

and then maybe tack it together here and there throughout with embroidery thread as well like a quilt to hold the blanket together??

any suggestions very welcome!!!

I want to do similar with sophie's ears

also I am going to shorten them.

except patchworky type fabric, not so much fleece

Usually with stretchy fabric it's safer and more durable to use a zigzag type stitch, even if you are hand stitching. Running stitch wouldn't allow any give iyswim.

hmm i was thinking that as well. just not sure how to do that exactly.

Pin the right sides together, sew the first three edges together with small zigzags, turn right side out and brace yourself for trying the neatest tiniest stitches iyswim.

A lot of machines have a stretch stitch option which is stronger than zigzag.

Remember to use a ballpoint needle
