Cricut advice

I've never been able to get a handle on which Cricut might be the right one for me, so I've never bought one 🙈.

I o l'y really dabble in arts and crafts, and I think I imagine myself making T-shirts, bags, and possibly mugs.

Does anyone know which one I might get a lot from? Thanks!

Wouldn't go with the Joy if you might want to make things T-shirt or bag sized as it only cuts smaller sizes.

If you think you're ever going to want to use the Cricut "smart" materials that don't need a cutting mat - you'll need the Maker 3.

Basic model Maker (there's no Maker 2 confusingly) is what I have - it has more blades available to cut a wider range of materials - but if you're not wanting to cut those - you could just go for the Air models which will do paper, card and vinyl fine.

Thanks @DoNotScrapeMyDataBishes!

I've been having another look at the Cricut website - do I have to pay a monthly subscription fee? Can I just cancel as and when?

The subscription fee is only if you want to cut their images. If you aren't going to use many you can either pay them for individual images or buy them elsewhere.
I tend to do a lot of extra crafting at Christmas so pay the subscription for a month then buy I don't have it for the rest of the year.

Thanks @newuser9090.

I quite fancy the little one to see if I can get on with it. Is this a mistake?

It really depends what you think you might want to make. The joy will limit the size of things you can cut and the type of materials too. I started with an air and regretted it and ending up buying a maker due to the number of different blades and materials it could cut. If you are sure you will only want to do vinyl, paper card etc and only small items then a joy is great. It's also very portable. But if you think you might want to do more I would go for something bigger.

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep ruminating. 🙂!
