My Grandmother has given me some amazing beads and I'd like to make a ring from them.
They are turquoise porcelain cats but very tiny, 4mm wide.
Is it possible, and what would I need to do it? I am imagining silver wire, or would elastic be easier? Should I wuss out and go to a proffesional?

I want to make it as good as possible as they are quite a treasure, they came from beaded dress she had in the 20's.

Ooooor could I have them embedded into a silver band? Without it costing much.

wire would be better or you can get a ring base that you attach beads to, Whizz will know more... I would not use elastic though for something so precious and meaningful...whizzz will know what you need to do.

They sound lovely! Agree I've never trusted elastic even though you can get some high spec jewellery stuff. It's hard to know what the best approach would be without seeing the beads - are the holes drilled top to bottom or side to side ? A ring base is a possibility although the cats will be in a 'cluster'.
One idea (although I don't use it) is embedding them in PMC - a silver clay - although not sure that porcelain would be tough enough for the PMC process??.
I have people on a beady forum that may be able to help you & come up with ideas if you'd like me to ask??

Does it have to be a ring ? Only asking because I think rings take more of a bashing than other jewellery

Thanks for your help. The holes go from side to side. I'll try to get a photo and put it on my profile later so you can see them.

Whizzz I do have a lot of them , plus I'd only wear it occasionally. I suppose a bracelet might be nice?

I've already used some to decorate a cardigan for my DD. It's lovely , and she will be wearing it to my cousins wedding in June.

would love to see a pic of the cardigan you have added the beads to. I think a bracelet would be a better choice than a ring, especially for something that special that you don't want to damage.
