I would love to learn but there are no classes anywhere close to where I live. Can I learn from U Tube or how should I get started?

Thank you

YouTube is the place to go. Channels such as Bella Coco and The Crochet Crowd have lots of really helpful beginner videos. A basic granny square is a good thing to start on. You'll need some DK weight yarn and a 4 or 5mm hook in a non pale shade, don't use black or dark navy to start the stitches are much harder to see.
Wool Warehouse is good for online orders or you could check out local charity shops for yarn and hooks or if you're lucky enough to have a local yarn shop they will likely be very helpful.

I used Bella Coco on YouTube when I was a beginner, she explains things very clearly and iirc she will tell you when to pause the video so you can attempt what she’s showing before moving onto the next part of the tutorial.

Try to use an English tutorial (which Bella Coco is) as English and American crochet terms are different and most pattern books sold here mostly use English terms.

Definitely YouTube, my dd did. I also put a request on a local Facebook group asking for classes in the local area as some are not advertised on the internet. A lovely lady offered to come round and help my DD. I also found out about a couple of social groups that got together.

Attic24 has really clear picture instructions too if you'd like a step by step picture guide.

YouTube really is the way to go. I essentially taught myself after someone spent 15 minutes showing me the basics. As someone else said start with a big hook and light colours and do a few granny squares (easier than stripes I think).

YouTube absolutely! That's how I learned. There's a gazillion videos on there. This is the first thing I made (cowl and matching headband - there are two as first one (on the right) was too small).
Beanies are surprisingly easy and I've made about 100 scrunchies in every colour for my daughter!

I learnt many years ago from a book but I became lifelong knitter as I was qiute unsure about crochet - no internet when I was 15! - and while my mum knew how to bookbind, and cobble shoes, make butter, was an amazing semstress and knitter, she didn't know how to crochet, so no=one in real life could reassure me.

I just found the book, it's a Good Housekeeping publication.

I meant to add that I relearnt crochet when TheZombie died and Woolly Hugs was staarted. Then I found that YouTube was my greatesst friend.

Yes to Bella Coco on YouTube - her videos are very good and I know a few people that have taught themselves from her videos.

@MollsDolls I am teaching a friend's daughter to crochet and we have found blossom crochet beginner videos on you tube fantastic and easy to follow.

Just over three months ago, I learned to crochet thanks to Bella Coco on YouTube. I am crocheting granny square blankets. It's something I have always wanted to do.

Never thought I could learn through YouTube but it is indeed possible. You just pause and re-watch the clips as and when necessary until you get the hang of it.

It's relaxing and has helped my mental health massively.

I learnt in lockdown from YouTube. I bought a kit from The Knitting Network which was described as a crochetalong and went from there.
Am currently crocheting mosaic crochet

Another vote for Bella Coco from me. And Hooked by Robin is good too (she is also British)
