Hello all! As promised, here is the first in hopefully many threads involving all things art & crafts.
I want it to be open to those who don’t necessarily do traditional art as well because I genuinely believe no matter skill set or level, everybody can be an artist if they put their mind to it. 👩‍🎨
If you’re a creative, please do join in on the introductions!

I feel like a proper introduction would be a good way of starting this off, so I’ll start;

ME: I have always been a creative person and have been creating since I was literally 4! I currently have a small business that I run along side being a full time mother of two DC, where I sell pet portraits, colouring pages and other things. I wish I had more arty friends, but I do not 🥲
MEDIUM: My favourite mediums are gouache and pencil but I flit around and also partake in crochet as well.

EXTRA: I am obsessed with tea, Yorkshire tea is the best and I am mildly addicted to anything regarding chocolate.

@ChatteringStarling I've been ill, so no. Got a chest infection which turned to pneumonia. Hospitalised (including ICU) for 11 days and got out a week ago. I was able to get back to my art class this week since it is just sitting quietly drawing. But nothing really to show right now.

I am glad to read the approach you are taking to learning from your art. That is the approach our teacher takes and it is very helpful. She tells us off if we say we have done something wrong. She says nothing is "wrong" - it is just different to what we had planned in our head and we now need to consider how to get it closer to what we had planned.

We have sketchbooks for class but I never draw in them as the paper is grotty. Most of us don't. What we do is take photos of our pictures to print and stick in the sketchbooks and then we can annotate to our hearts content. The teacher makes her remarks by sticking post it notes into the books.

Oh no! Sorry to hear you’ve been so poorly @Spodge Sounds you’ve been going through a pretty rough time.

That’s a good idea to make a copy to annotate. I could even do that on my tablet. Great idea!

I’ve spent a lot of time organising art supplies this afternoon after DH decided to organise a dedicated art space for me. I was a bit shocked to see just how many half (or quarter) filled sketchbooks I have. Starting a new sketchbook appears to be a lot easier than finishing an existing one!
