Where do you buy your sewing patterns?

I live in quite a remote area and I want to try sewing garments. I'm a reasonably confident sewer in terms of repairs and upholstery but no experience following garment patterns. I'd like to sew clothes for myself so starting off with simple, slightly boho style might be good, such as maxi skirts and dungarees... oh and a cloak for dd10, who is channeling hermione Confused

Where would you recommend either in terms of pattern brands or online shops please?

Some of used learned on Simplicity/Vogue!

I find it confusing to have so many helpful instructions instead of just looking at a bad drawing that doesn't help😂

I learnt with Simplicity/New Look etc too. But had a break of many years until I came back to it all in lockdown. The Big 4 assume a certain level of knowledge with their instructions, and use a lot of abbreviations and badly laid out (IMO) instructions (huge pieces of paper with narrow columns, and lots of 'for view A skip to step 45, for view B skip to step 30 etc etc, meaning it's harder to follow). The newer designers have designed their instructions to work more for people who don't have the previous knowledge of old school patterns and are much more accessible.

That's a great description. You could add all the minimal instructions crammed into half a page, leaving a page and a half blank.
